That means if you use them to make a purchase, I'll earn a bit of money from the sale to save for my next gluten-free adventure. Poker and pizza by the poolWe had high hopes for St. George but in the end, the festival at the park, the free concert and the outlet mall were all a bust. Big pluses for the day were a free Zumba class and the Super 8 pool party for five catered by our Igloo cooler and Hungry Howie's pizza delivery. Gluten-free pizza crust and hard cider - an Independence Day miracleIt was blazing hot and being northerners we were not acclimated to triple-digit temps. Instead of standing in line for what was guaranteed to be horrible seats/grassy spots for the Sawyer Brown concert we opted to park ourselves in a shady corner by the pool. The O'Jackson's are nothing if not classy. We hauled our coolers full of beer and Ace Cider, which, by the way, is gluten-free and delicious, to the pool, played a cutthroat game of Jolly Rancher Texas Hold'em and ordered pizza.
Hungry Howie's offers take-out and delivery from several locations and it seems they advertise flavored pizza crust. I was excited to find out that gluten-free crust is a standard option on the menu although it can only be ordered in one size and not flavored. The ordering process was a bit arduous as it all has to be done via an app or online and, after a couple hard ciders, the ordering interface seemed not at all intuitive. I did eventually get the pizza ordered and, in 40 minutes, the delivery guy arrived bearing boxes of hot pizza. The non-gluten-free pie looked delicious. The meat and gluten eaters ordered the Howie Special on a butter flavored crust which they said was delicious and I got the Howie Maui minus cheese on a GF crust. The toppings were tasty and the crust had good flavor but it was burned on the edges and was so hard it could have cracked a tooth. Burnt crust aside, the pizza hit the spot and was delivered poolside. What more could I ask for except a couple pocket aces and a straight flush?

A note to readers:
I am gluten sensitive/intolerant so I am not overly concerned with possible cross contamination. If you have severe reactions, I recommend taking additional precautions. |
